Triangle, Virginia: National Museum of the Marine Corps

Who said book tours weren't dangerous?

Today we visited the National Museum of the Marine Corps, which happens to be a sniper hot spot.  Read more here.

Despite the high danger level of this place, we met a couple of very young history buffs.  Like Isaac, future #1 eagle scout of America.

It was a bit quiet in museum due to election day, but Tom and I forged ahead.   Nothing stops us--not empty seats or bad weather.  And definitely not a sniper...who shoots buildings.

 A little trivia about Marines-

Did you know that the Brooklyn Bridge designer, John Augustus Roebling, passed on the necessary genes to secure their heightened role in the military?  His grandson, Donald Roebling, created the first amphibian tractor.  From that moment forward, the Marines took on expeditionary missions that intertwined all the elements of combat from sea to sky.  This was a unique military force during WWII.
